Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2010 Dodge Journey- Video
Today on our 2010 Dodge Journey we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 2-bike platform rack. Now one of the really nice features about this bike rack is that you can actually tilt it away, without having to take the bike off, and still gain access to the back hatch. You have plenty of room to get anything in or out you need. To put it back into position, you just lift up and it will lock in place. Now to remove the bike you have a wheel strap right here. Just push the button, pull the strap out. Up front, have this bar. more

All right. Today on our 2010 Dodge Journey, we're going to be test fitting a Thule T2 Classic two bike platform rack. Now, we already have our bike securely attached to the rack. I'll show you one nice feature of this is that it does tilt away so you're going to have access to everything in the back. You just pull that pin out, pull this lever, and it will tilt down. You still have plenty of room to access everything in the back hatch. Now, just to put it back into position, you just lift back up until it locks in place. more

Now, unlike other hanging style racks, we can actually tilt this away with our bikes fully loaded, because it keeps our bikes parallel to the ground. Today, in our 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be test-fitting Thule Vertex swing 4-bike rack for 2" hitches, part number TH9031XT. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first and most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that it can actually swing away from the rear of the vehicle, giving you rear hatch access with the bikes still attached, which is pretty unique for a hanging style bike rack. To do that, we'll start here in the rear, loosening up this knob in the back all the way, like so, pulling this pin, then lifting up on this T-handle to release the actually bike rack. Swing it out to about this position here, then we'll actually twist it until we hear that little click, then we'll push it the rest of the way. Once we get it to where we want it so it'll stay in place, we'll insert this pin again. Now we have full access to our rear hatch and plenty of space to get whatever we need. more

Swagman XTC4 Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be test-fitting the Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack, part number S64665, and this is for 2" hitches only. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now how the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact. We're going to have this padded frame hook up at the top here, and this is padded to make sure the bike rack frame itself does not get scratched once it's installed. We also have rubber straps on either tire to hold those in place, and the wheel wells that hold the tires are actually adjustable along the arms on both sets of the bike rack. This is to assist with both loading, and to fit different size bikes as well. This also has a nice raised shank to it, so there's not going to be any clearance issues between your bike rack and the ground no matter how low your hitch sets. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

We already have our bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and check out some of the features. How the bike sits on the rack, we're going to have it gripped by 3 points. We're going to have this padded frame hookup at the top and it's padded so your bike will not get scratched up once it's being installed. We also have hook and lip straps on either tire. The wheel wells themselves are adjustable along the length of the arms, and can be re-tightened, and this is going to help out with fitting different size bikes as well as loading up bikes. Right now we have it in the 4 bike configuration. more

Now the first and most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike is still attached. To do that, while holding on to the bike rack, you come up to this red tab here at the front, pull out, and just let it come forward. Now, unfortunately, with how close this does sit to the vehicle, you won't be able to open your rear hatch all the way, as it will make contact with the bike or the bike's handle bars. Although, you will have some space to grab certain things. To put it back in its original position, just lift it up until you hear the click, like that. How this is held in place ... more

Today in our 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat NV 2.0 two-bike rack for two inch hitches, part number NV22G. The most prominent feature about this bike rack is the fact that this can tilt away with the bike still attached to it. To do that we have this switch here at the front which will pull towards us and let it tilt away. This is a little bit nicer than some of the other models because usually the handle's below and it makes it a little more awkward to get to when you have two bikes. Hold on to the bike rack, pull the switch towards us, let it come down, and now we have full access to our rear hatch. However, unfortunately with the configuration and the hitch that we have on this vehicle, this will come into contact with the handlebars of our bike. more

This also has a nice raised shank here, and that's going to be a little bit beneficial to you when you have hitches that sit particularly low, so you won't have a clearance issues between the bike rack and the ground. Today on our 2008 Dodge Durango we're doing a test fit of the Tulle Vertex spring-away style of and hanging style for bike rack. That part number is TH9031XT. We already have our bike secured down, first I'm going to show you the main feature of this rack and it's going to be our swing-away feature. Going to start off by removing our T-pin here on the end and we'll save that for later. Going to undo our screw here at the back, want to loosen that completely so that it hangs loosely just like so. We'll pull up on our T-pin here and rotate our bike rack out. When it's about halfway, I'll rotate the front portion so the T-pin inserts into the bracket on the back and I'll keep rotating it out. We want to line up our pinholes here and we'll insert our pin. more

Today on our 2008 Dodge Durango, we're doing a test fit of the Swagman XC2 platform style 2 bike rack. That part number is S64650. We already have our bike secured down, so we're first going to show you how we secure it in place. You'll notice we have 2 wheel cradles holding our tires in place, then we have our frame hook, so we're going to have 1 point of contact here that's going to hold that down onto our wheel cradles. To release that, we're just going to squeeze in on the gray button there and lift straight up. Then we'll be able to take our bike off, and we can set it off to the side. One great thing about our wheel cradles here is that they are actually adjustable. You can just loosen up the thumb screws and adjust those how you need to. I'll take a few measurements. more

What we'll do is we'll start right here with this black lever. Go ahead and loosen that up. It's going to seem like it wants to come out, but that's how you know it's loose. Then, we're going to pull up on the pin here. We can start pulling out the bike rack. Go ahead and circle it around until it snaps into place there. more

I've already got it loaded up, just to give you a good idea what it looks like, and how it's going to secure our bikes. It actually secures our bikes in 2 spots without any frame contact. We have this large hook going over our front wheel, putting down pressure to our front wheel cradle here. In the back, we've got a ratchet strap going over our rear wheel, and we can get it nice and tight with that. If we'd like to, we can even run our cable locks for some added security. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule T2 Pro Platform Style 2 Bike Rack. That's part number TH9034. I've already got it loaded up on the Grand Caravan just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to secure our bikes. It actually secures our bikes in 2 spots. We have this rear wheel strap going over our rear wheel, and then we have this large wheel hook going over the front wheel putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle here. All in all, no frame contact with this bike rack. more

Swagman XTC4 Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman XTC4 4-bike platform style rack, part number S64665 on our 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. On this bike rack, the bike is secured down in three positions. It's got the hook that comes down on the frame on the mast to tighten it into the wheel cradles. Then also once it's in the wheel cradles, it's got a strap for either wheel to help hold it down. We're going to go ahead and get the bike out of the way. Now, with the bike out of the way, let's go ahead and get a couple of measurements. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be taking a look at the Swagman XC 2-bike platform style rack, part number S64650. The nice feature that this bike rack has is that there are no straps tying the wheels down. Instead you've got two wheel cradles at either end of the bike and then this hook on the center mast holding it down tight. Now, let's go ahead and get our bike out of the way and then we'll be able to look at some of the other features of this rack. Now, with the bike out of the way, let's go ahead and get a few measurements. Total distance that this will add to the rear of the vehicle is about 18 1/2 inches. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule T2 Pro 4-Bike platform style bike rack, Part Number TH9034-9036. You can see I've already got the bike rack installed into the receiver hitch on our Dodge Grand Caravan. You'll notice it's a sizable rack, so you're going to cradle all four of your bikes heading down the road. It would be really good as a family rack, or for your group of riding buddies. It does keep our bike in place in three positions. Here at the rear we have a wheel cradle with a ratcheting strap keeping our tire in place. Here at the front we have a cradle holding on to our wheel down here. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2007 Dodge Nitro- Video
Today in our 2007 Dodge Nitro, we're doing a test fit of the Thule T2 Pro platform style 4 bike rack, that part number is TH9034-9036. We already have our bike secured down we're going to go over one of the key features of this rack. Because we're able to tilt this away with our bike on it we're going to come back here and squeeze our handle, there's a gray lever on the inside, we'll be able to squeeze that together and rotate your bike rack down and then we can gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything we may need in or out. We can close it up and then we'll straighten up our bike rack, now how our bike is secured down her in the back we have a ratchetting strap, we're going to start by releasing that. In the front we a wheel hook this is what really holds our bikes down into our rear cradles, it also either sits in front of our frame or in front of our brakes depending on how your bike is designed. You just push in our gray button and lose that up and push it out of the way, we'll be able to pull our bike off and set it off to the side. Now, one great thing about the rear cradles on this bike rack is that they do fit different size bike tires, they go all the way up from the road bike all the way to a fat tire bike with 5 inches wheels, just keep that in mind if your family has multiple size bike tires this will be a great option. We're just going to reconnect that strap there, and now we'll start off with a few measurements. First, it's going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle, adding about 59 inches. Our ground clearance in the back here it's going to be right back here at the back of our handle at about 24 inches and our closest point is going to be in this gray shank area, it's going to sit about 7 inches away. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2007 Dodge Nitro- Video
Today in our 2007 Dodge Nitro, we're doing a test fit of the Quad Transport platform style 3 bike rack, that part number is TS03G. We already have our bike secured down, we're going to go over one of the key features of this platform style rack. The first thing we're going to do is move our two back rear hooks out of our way, we're going to reach out with our foot and push down on that lever, that's going to allow us to tilt this bike rack away from our vehicle and then we're going to gain access to our back hatch area to get anything we may need in or out. We can close it back and then to put our bike rack back into place we're simply going to lift until it secures back in position, after our bike is secured down we're going to wrap the strap here in the back and the wheel hook in the front that either sits in front of our brakes or in front of our frame, we'll just release that and push it off the to the side and then we can remove our bike. Then I like to put my hook back just so it doesn't gets damaged. Next thing we'll do is take a few measurements here first thing overall, what we're adding to our vehicle, it's going to be about 46 1/2 inches, our ground clearance here in the back it's going to be about 23 1/2 inches and our closest point is about 7 1/2 inches. We can actually put this in another position, we're going to move those hooks out of the way once again, hit that bottom, make sure you close up these hooks and we can lift this bike rack into the storage position or the fold up position this is going to be great for close quarter situations. We're only adding about 14 1/2 inches now, we have a ground clearance of about 15 inches and our closest point looks to be the bottom of this hook here at about 5 inches now. As for our hitch this works with both 1 1/4 and 2-inch hitches and comes with an anti-rattle bolt and clip to keep the shake in place out of the bike rack as you head down the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Quad Transport Platform style 3 bike rack, that part number is TS03G on our 2007 Dodge Nitro. Here on our test course, we'll start by going through the slalom, this is going to show us the side to side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. more

We're first going to show you how we do that. We've got 2 cradles in place with 3 straps, 2 on our frame and 1 as our anti-sway strap. We'll start by pulling down and releasing those. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2007 Dodge Nitro TH912XTR- Video
Today we're doing a 2007 Dodge Nitro. We're doing a test fit of the Thule Roadway hanging Style 2 bike rack. That part number is TH912XTR. Now we already have our bike secured down, so we're first going to show you how we do that. We have two cradles in place with three straps. We've got two on our frame and one as our anti-sway strap in the back. We're going to start by releasing those, and then we'll be able to pull our bike off and set it off to the side. With our bike out of the way we can start by taking a few measurements. First ones going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle with our arms hanging out. We're going to add about 29 1/2 inches. Now we do have the option to rotate our arms down. more
